Nidan - Sandan Promotional Requirements
S.T.O. and N.T.O. Duties and Responsibilities

Effective January 3, 2011 the following policy will be adopted at the Samurai Cop Academy and will be an additional promotional requirement along with the testing techniques required for those Recruits preparing for both Nidan and/or Sandan testing.
For the purposes of this policy, any Shodan or Nidan who is assigned to any Recruit Trainee as a Training Officer shall be referred to as a Shodan Training Officer (S.T.O.) or Nidan Training Officer (N.T.O.)
The Chief Academy Officer shall be responsible for, but not limited to, assigning one or more Recruit Trainee who is in preparation to test for 9th Kyu to Nidan to an S.T.O. or N.T.O., who shall remain as the Recruit Trainees S.T.O. or N.T.O. until such time as relieved from their assignment by the Chief Academy Officer.
On designated training days, it shall be the responsibility of the S.T.O.'s and N.T.O.'s to assist the Chief Academy Officer and/or any Assistant Academy Officer(s), to train, work with and mentor any Recruit Trainee that is assigned to them for the purposes of preparing them for their scheduled promotional test.
On non-designated training days, Recruit Trainee's, S.T.O.'s and N.T.O.'s shall work with their regular training and/or testing partner(s).
In keeping with the Academy Chain of Command, all appointed Senior S.T.O.'s and N.T.O.'s shall be responsible for working with, co-coordinating and communicating any and all training issues, information and/or changes in Academy policies to S.T.O.'s, and N.T.O.'s who in turn shall communicate and relay any and all necessary information to their respective Recruit Trainees.
When needed, the Chief Academy Officer shall conduct scheduled meetings with the S.T.O.'s and N.T.O.'s to discuss and update any Academy training issues or policies.
Should any S.T.O. or N.T.O. not be able to attend any designated Recruit Trainee training day(s), it shall be their responsibility to make contact and notify the Senior S.T.O. or N.T.O. in order to make arrangements to have an alternate S.T.O. or N.T.O. take their place to train with the Recruit Trainee.
As part of the overall testing requirements for both Nidan and Sandan promotional exams, S.T.O.'s and N.T.O.'s who have been assigned to any and all Recruit Trainee(s), shall be evaluated on their training skills as a Trainer based on the overall performance and quality of their Recruit Trainees test.
